We are currently working with a leader in the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of large-scale infrastructure for the energy sector, focusing on oil, gas, and renewable energy projects. This group specializes in building offshore platforms, onshore and offshore wind energy structures, and LNG facilities. They are well known for their advanced fabrication yards and their capability to deliver major energy infrastructure solutions worldwide.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Naval Project Director to oversee the end-to-end management and successful execution of large-scale offshore platform construction projects in Germany.
The Project Director will be responsible for coordinating with subcontractors, managing project teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the specified quality and safety standards.
This role requires expertise in structural manufacturing and welding. They will have a team to support them in their role.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of offshore platform construction projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- Subcontractor Management: Oversee the progress and quality of work performed by a very important subcontractor, with a particular focus on defending the company’s and the construction manager’s interests and ensuring optimal productivity and resource allocation.
- Quality and Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities meet the project’s technical, quality, and safety requirements, adhering to environmental and regulatory standards.
- Team Leadership: Build and manage a multidisciplinary project team, providing leadership, setting performance goals, and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Cost and Budget Control: Monitor project budgets, resources, and costs, taking corrective actions when necessary to stay within financial targets.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage project risks, developing contingency plans to address potential issues.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing regular project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring clear and timely communication.
- Project Reporting: Produce detailed progress and financial reports to keep senior management and other stakeholders informed of project status.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Naval Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of total experience in the construction of offshore platforms or similar structures.
- At least 5 years in a project management role or similar leadership position within the industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of structural fabrication, welding processes, and offshore platform construction standards.
- Language Skills: High proficiency in English is required; proficiency in German or Spanish is a plus.
- Project Management Skills: Proven track record of managing large, complex projects, including budget control, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to Relocate: This role requires extended time on-site at the shipyard (at least 3 years) and later relocation to the Puerto Real yard in Cadiz.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is advantageous. Offshore Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with offshore engineering standards and environmental regulations.Benefits
